Friday Night at the Midland!

Tonight we took the church to the Midland! We sang, we prayed and we worshiped. This night was to be all about Him. Here are some pictures to tell the story.

Thursday, May 10, 2007

So it is Thursday and it is "Evening of worship" eve! Tomorrow evening our church will gather with other people from Central Ohio and we will worship God in the historic Midland Theatre.

Practices are nearly over, guitars have been restrung, drums have been tuned and we are ready to go. Today is moving equipment from the church day followed by an evening practice. Tomorrow the technology side will be added and tomorrow evening we hope to see a lot of people in the seats. It would be nice to fill this place but not have to turn anyone away. It seats close to 1200 so we will see how it goes.

Don't be late because I have a feeling that people are going to get there early. According to the sign you can go Saturday and hear the Ink Spots! I think I'll stick with Newark Naz. Worship on Friday night!

See you at 8:00 p.m. (Click on the first picture and see if you can find me in it. No I am not sitting on the bench in front of the Midland but I am in the picture. I took these this morning.)

Quick Trip to Nashville

Today Bill W. and I drove to Nashville to help Levi get home from college. This afternoon we visited an old friend of Bill's who is now running a studio on Music Row. Dan Mitchell was a gracious host and took time to show us through the studio introducing us to engineers, artists and producers along the way.

Our final introduction along the tour was to an older gentleman by the name of Bob Johnston. This salty old guy (74) produced some major albums through the years. These would include many of Bob Dylan's albums from 1965 through 72 or so. Johnny Cash's Folsom Prison Blues and San Quentin live albums, two of Leonard Cohen's albums, The Byrds, Willie Nelson, Barbara Streisand, and Andy Williams to name a few. Once we got him started the stories flowed freely. If you would like to know more about Bob check out this interview online: http://mixonline.com/recording/interviews/audio_bob_johnston/

Here are a few pictures from our time there today.

This would be Bob Johnston who doesn't look too bad given his life experiences!
